Teachers
are some of the greatest people life has to offer. It is without a doubt that
they play an extremely vital role when it comes to influencing a student’s
life. We see them almost every single day of our schooling life which actually
amounts to quite a bit of time, considering we spend most of our waking hours
in school. Although there are many teachers around, what are some of the
criteria’s that make up an excellent teacher?
In my
opinion, a teacher with a healthy work ethic should be given the Special
Teacher Award. A teacher who is able to balance his or her own work life with
their personal life should be applauded for it is no easy task. Besides that,
they should be able to handle their students in a very sophisticated manner as
opposed to yelling at them non-stop throughout the entire duration of the
class.
A
teacher with a strong sense of responsibility will enable them to flourish not
only in their work career but it also helps to build rapport among the teacher
and students. If a student does not trust their teacher to teach them, what
else is there to do? If you have a student questioning your every teaching,
does that make you a good teacher? Being responsible for the students is a
basic criterion of a good teacher. If the teacher does not mark the homework
being assigned, the students will start to question why they should bother doing
it in the first place.
Besides
that, a teacher should also be confident in his or her own teaching. It can be
quite nerve-wracking to be standing in front of a class of 39 pupils but it is
a skill that develops over time. Being a good teacher means being able to
explain the subject being taught in a precise and educational manner. If the
teacher understands the subject matter well, they automatically gain the
respect and admiration of the pupils. That’s not to say that the teacher should
know everything because that simply isn’t possible, but showing a curiosity to
learn what they do not know is also a very important thing.
At the
end of the day, teachers are some of the most important people in our lives. They
educate us not only academically but also in the ways of life. Teachers are
very much like our parents and should be respected.
