Today, I'll be giving my two cents worth regarding Ryan Issac's last post 'School Expectations'.
First of all, I would like to say that yes, it is true that we as 'Angsana-nians'; otherwise known as the students in the first class receive more pressure than those in lower classes. Even so, It is not unexpected that being in the first class requires more out of a person. Why else would we be classified as being the cream of the crop of the school?
Even so, teachers do assure us that there is not supposed to be a difference between the first four out of eleven classes in Form Four. We were not streamed according to our PT3 results, but instead by our choices in streams. What were the requirements for us to be considered good enough for Angsana? No class is perfect, and by far Angsana isn't. Constant complaints from teachers have drawn unwanted attention to us. Yes, our grades are far from being the best, but we should all put in our best efforts to attain better results not for the sake of class pride, instead, we are also building a brighter future for ourselves.
Handing in homework on time is something that we should uphold, regardless of whether or not we are in the first class or in the last class. This 'leeway' that is given to last class students is because teachers expect less from the students there. Personally, I'd rather have the expectation to hand in my work on time as compared to being given a free pass all the time. It is our responsibilities as a student to study, and homework is a part of that.
Expectation can sometimes set you up for disappointment, so don't always be too shocked when it happens.
